We went to Three Springs for this year’s King`s Birthday long weekend, a good base to explore and discover wildflowers. It was a slow start to the day, with some wide loads making their way up Great Northern Highway. We met the rest of the convoy, Gerry and Jennifer, at the Bindoon bakery, and took the Midlands Road through Moora to Three Springs. The Three Springs 400 off road racing was also on, so we camped at the local golf course, which was one of the overflow camping areas. We visited the local Talc mine in the afternoon, then on-to discovering wildflowers, finding wreath flowers on the way to Perenjori amongst many other species.

We took the scenic road back through farming country, with some water crossings. Nibblies and dinner at camp was shared with many flies and mosquitos.

Gerry and Jennifer only picked up their, new to them, caravan on the Thursday, and overall, the shakedown trip went alright, despite not having any power on Sunday morning.

The West Peren-jori Reserve was our first stop on Sunday, there were more wreath flowers and car-pets of white, pink and yellow wild-flowers. A quick stop at the Peren-jori information centre, then to the Mongers Lake lookout, along the rabbit proof fence to Orchid Ridge, with lunch at Camel Soak. Bowgada Nature Reserve was on the way back to Three Springs, with more wreath flowers, followed by a pleasant dinner at the pub.

Monday morning was packing up time with a visit to the ex-cellent bakery in Moora on the way home.
