This year I decided to run the trip on a Saturday. We met at Byford at 8am and 8 vehicles left only 10 minutes
late. We stopped at Waroona to visit the bakery and use the public conveniences. We got going and met our
visitor from the public Facebook page at the corner of Honeymoon Road in Harvey. It turned out he lived right
near the trip and new every track. His advice was helpful, and we managed to avoid a couple of tricky U turns
due to his knowledge as the dam level was very high and blocking many tracks.

We let down our tyres and made a few circuits of the area. I tried to make the tracks progressively more difficult and with a bit of guidance for the newbies, we all made it to the lunch spot next to the water. After lunched we climbed out of the valley taking difficult tracks culminating in a shear rock climb. Most made it all the way. We then headed north cross country. We crossed a usually very damp creek crossing without too much trouble and made it back to the road with time to pump our tyres before the planned 3 pm finish. Anita was very brave and built up her confidence. Prasanna showed his skill driving his Suzuki and he showed just how capable the XL-7 is. We now need to see Jeroen’s XL-7 on some tracks.

After saying goodbye we all made our way home.
