The trip to Nannup was smooth with a brief stop in Bunbury. We arrived on a hot lunch time and set up campers. Jennifer arrived at 3.30 and Paul and Daniel at about 4. Even though the water was a little murky, it was still refreshing to have a swim. At six o’clock we all moved to the shed area and set up the decorations and the food tables. Then it was nibbles and cooking time. We celebrated with the National Anthem and gradually headed back to the camp site.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 9.12.56 pmFriday was much cooler and we headed off bright and early to rendezvous with Ross. He had explored the northern part of Adelaide road. It was a reasonably easy introduction to Margaret as she was tackling off roading for the first time. We went from North to South to end up on Mowen Road. We then travelled towards Margaret River and turned north, crossing the Margaret River which was just a bit of mud in the road, then deviated to another section of the river. Ross tackled the water crossing which was about tyre depth, though a little rough on the entry and exit. After this we went to Canebrake pool for lunch. It was very pleasant. After lunch we headed for the Berry farm on Rosa Glen road for some purchases, then back to Nannup as we chose. Paul came back to meet up with Luke and his sons.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 9.13.03 pmOn Saturday we had a shorter trip planned. After farewelling Stephen, Karen, Nathan, Johanna, Charm and Margaret we headed down River road to Jalbarragup. We inspected the ford which we have been using for a couple of years but didn’t use it as it is now too difficult to enter or exit from our side of the river.
Then we headed down Brook rd. A large tree had fallen down, however someone had created a track around it. We did clear this a little more and edged our way around – it was tight through the trees. Good experience for first timer Luke. Rachel also tried her hand at driving in River road. At the end of Brook road we visited Barrabup pool. This is the local swimming hole. As it was a hot day, it was extremely busy and parking posed a real problem so we backtracked to Workers pool. This is next to a DPaw campsite. The entry and exit to the water was harder but we had the pool to ourselves for most of the time. There was a tree sloping out over the water for the boys to do bombies off and a decent length to swim in. Alexandra thought it was great fun. In the afternoon there was kayaking and swimming back at the property.

On Sunday Ollie and Rachel had to leave very early and the rest of us did our cleanup in the cool of the early morning. The hour flew past and a small bonfire created. Thanks also to Charm and Margaret who cleaned out the gutters of the shed before they left on Saturday. Luke and Paul and boys left just after clean up. It was packup and home time for the stragglers.
